For a decade, the District Collector’s Internship Programme has quietly worked alongside the Kozhikode District Administration, strengthening the system from within. Each batch of interns has become part of the everyday rhythm of governance — researching where data was missing, coordinating when communities needed connecting, and implementing when policies needed ground-level translation. It has been a space where governance meets participation, where administration and youth come together to solve problems, not just study them.
Every milestone has been the result of shared effort. District Collectors have provided direction, departments have designed programmes, and communities have voiced their needs — while interns have bridged the spaces in between. From surveys in tribal hamlets to accessibility audits, from supporting crisis response to facilitating social welfare drives, every effort has been about ensuring that the last mile is not just reached but truly understood.

Over the years, more than 300 interns have devoted over 10,000 hours across 50 sustainable initiatives, reaching more than two million lives. Yet, the deeper impact lies beyond numbers — in the disability data that unlocked access to social security, the volunteer networks that strengthened health responses, and the stories of inclusion that emerged from the field. Across ten sectors aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, this journey stands as proof that governance grows stronger when compassion, collaboration, and co-creation come together for a more inclusive Kozhikode.
