Reaching Voters Where They Are

Overview:

The LEAP Boat Campaign was a targeted electoral awareness initiative conducted among the coastal communities of Beypore under District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh IAS. Designed as a field-level intervention, the programme aimed to take local body election awareness directly to fishing communities, reinforcing the importance of exercising voting rights ahead of the Local Body Elections.

Activities / Programmes:

  • Boat rally decorated with LEAP-themed, eco-friendly awareness materials.

  • Walkway rally and human chain displaying local body election slogans and messages.

  • Reuse and redesign of SIR campaign materials for sustainable execution.

  • On-ground registration of student volunteers and structured crowd management.

  • Professional videography and coordinated pre-event and post-event PR dissemination.


Outcome:

  • Successfully engaged coastal communities through an accessible and context-specific awareness format.

  • Enhanced visibility of local body election messaging in non-traditional public spaces.

  • Strengthened interns’ capacity in event execution, station management, volunteer coordination, and crisis handling under challenging weather conditions.

  • Contributed to DCIP’s broader goal of promoting informed electoral participation through innovative outreach.
