I was chosen for the District Collector's Internship Programme (DCIP) in September 2020, during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as a four-month internship has evolved into an ongoing journey, as I continue to support newer batches of interns to this day.

During the initial phase, my work focused primarily on data management for the control room, requiring accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure. These tasks laid the foundation for my understanding of administrative processes. I subsequently contributed to the content development and rollout of the "Nammude Kozhikode" citizen governance mobile application, where I gained hands-on experience in project management, effective communication, and collaborative problem-solving.

As my role evolved, I began mentoring interns across various initiatives and programs. I actively participated in community-oriented campaigns such as "Puthulahari" (anti-drug campaign), "Sahamithra" (Barrier-Free Kozhikode), and "Udayam," along with several environmental initiatives including "Mission Clean Beach" and "Mission Sundarapathayoram." I also supported IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) activities and events such as student conclaves, the Collectorate @50 celebration, election support operations, and the Happy Hill beautification project. These diverse experiences helped me develop leadership skills, teamwork, empathy, organizational abilities, and adaptability. Guiding new interns reinforced the importance of mentorship, collaboration, and effective knowledge transfer in achieving success in complex initiatives.

Beyond routine programs, I also participated in landslide disaster relief operations for Chooralmala and Mundakkai (Wayanad). I assisted in coordinating relief materials and facilitating the airdropping of essential supplies immediately following the disaster. This experience tested my endurance, problem-solving abilities, and crisis management skills while deepening my understanding of the critical importance of timely, coordinated action in public service.

My DCIP experience has been profoundly life-changing, shaping both my personal and professional growth. It has instilled in me a strong sense of social responsibility, strengthened my initiative and adaptability, and deepened my appreciation for people-centered governance. Working in such a meaningful program has allowed me to give back to the community while developing skills and values that will guide my future endeavors.

It has taught me that even small acts of service can create lasting change—both in society and within ourselves.
