Overview
The Kozhikode District Administration, under the guidance of District Collector Dr. N. Tej Lohith Reddy IAS, organised a vibrant and inclusive celebration for the 73rd Republic Day in 2022. Conducted amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the initiative aimed to strengthen constitutional awareness, democratic values, and patriotic expression through a series of civic education programmes and creative online contests. From a Mock Parliament for students to a live constitutional dialogue and nationwide competitions, the celebration brought together citizens of all ages in a spirit of unity, learning, and national pride.
Key Highlights:
Mock Parliament: Simulated a legislative session with high school students taking on roles of parliamentarians, debating real socio-political issues, and gaining practical insights into democratic procedures.
Digital Contests (Theme: “My Country, My Hope”): Essay writing, haiku poetry, painting, digital poster-making, and movie reviews on patriotic themes.
Performative Competitions: “Reel It” patriotic dance reels, mobile photography challenge (“Beyond the Windows”), and a Fancy Dress Contest honouring Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Digital Platform Integration: Submissions were managed via the official social media pages and the Nammude Kerala mobile app, enabling wide participation.
