Swathanthryamrutham : "Celebrating 75 Years of Freedom with Patriotism and Community Engagement"

The Swathanthryamrutham initiative, organized under the guidance of District Collector Tej Lohit Reddy IAS, aimed to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence by fostering patriotism, honoring the sacrifices of freedom fighters, and engaging the public in active participation to contribute to the vision of "Atmanirbhar Bharat."


Key Highlights:
  • The program was launched as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, marking 75 years of independence.

  • Various community-driven events from August 13 to 17, 2022, included heritage walks, beach cleanups, cultural programs, and competitions.

  • Featured creative initiatives like human formations with tricolored balloons, freedom-themed art walls, and community videos showcasing Kozhikode’s diverse heritage.


Activities/Programs:
  • Har Ghar Tiranga: A short video campaign to promote the hoisting of the national flag across households.

  • Heritage Walk with Treasure Hunt: A historical walk and treasure hunt for college students to connect them to Kozhikode's role in the Indian liberation movement.

  • Beach Cleaning Campaign: Engaged 1000 volunteers from schools and colleges in cleaning Bhatt Road Beach.

  • Human Formation: Students created a human formation at Bhatt Road Beach, symbolizing freedom, peace, and unity using tricolored balloons.

  • Freedom Wall: Artists expressed gratitude for 75 years of independence through art on a dedicated wall.

  • Freedom Eve Cultural Programs: Open mic sessions, band performances, dance, and other cultural events to celebrate the spirit of freedom.

  • Community Videos: Highlighting the diverse communities settled in Kozhikode, fostering a sense of unity.

  • Competitions: Rangoli and photography competitions to engage the public and students in the celebrations.


Outcome: 
  • Successfully engaged the community, particularly students and volunteers, in commemorating the nation’s independence and contributions.

  • Raised awareness about India's journey to freedom through historical exploration and active participation in cleanliness and cultural initiatives.

  • Strengthened the sense of national pride and patriotism among participants of all age groups, ensuring broad and meaningful engagement.
