Background

Aadyam Aadhaar is a district-wide campaign initiated by the Kozhikode District Administration under the leadership of the district collector A Geetha IAS, focusing on enrolling all residents, especially children under 5, in the Aadhaar system. It brought together multiple partners and utilized scientific data management for successful execution.

Aadyam Aadhaar is a large-scale initiative aimed at providing essential documentation, particularly Aadhaar, to the residents of Kozhikode. Focused on children under 5 years, it successfully registered 69,457 residents within 1.5 months, from 6th June 2023 to 17th July 2023. The campaign involved collaboration across various government departments and grassroots workers, ensuring accessibility and smooth operations. The systematic approach to data management ensured accuracy and efficiency. DCIP interns played a crucial role in coordinating the Aadhaar camps, managing data, and facilitating communication between stakeholders, contributing significantly to the campaign’s success and broad reach, improving access to essential government services for many.

Aadhaar Enrollment Camps: Conducted across 226 centers in 542 wards, with a primary focus on children under 5 years. Each camp center was carefully designed, with diagrams provided to indicate optimal room layouts and facilities, ensuring smooth operations.
Child-Friendly and Accessible Facilities: Dedicated feeding rooms were set up for young children, and spaces were planned to facilitate movement for differently-abled individuals. All locations were selected to be fully accessible, with proper drinking water, washroom facilities, and comfortable, safe areas for participants.
Collaboration with Key Stakeholders: Partnered with Akshaya, the Postal Department, and other local agencies to ensure efficient execution and wide participation across Kozhikode.
Scientific Data Management: Implemented organized and systematic data collection to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Direct Liaison and Coordination: Maintained constant communication with ward councillors, ICDS coordinators, school authorities, and documentation personnel. Extensive training sessions were conducted for field officers, Anganwadi, and ASHA workers, with multiple review meetings to ensure smooth, district-wide operations.
Intern Contributions: DCIP interns played a crucial role in camp coordination, data management, and stakeholder communication, ensuring seamless execution and participant support.
