The District Collector’s Internship Programme shows what becomes possible when young people are trusted with real responsibility. Over eleven years, the District Collector’s interns have worked alongside the administration in areas spanning across healthcare, well-being, disability inclusion, tribal development, welfare homes, anti-drug awareness and so on through various projects. What runs through all of this is compassion, collaboration and co-creation, and a belief that the most meaningful initiatives are the ones communities come to own. Interns arrive from many subjects and walks of life, and each brings a fresh way of looking at a problem. That keeps the administration open to new ideas, and it gives young people an honest view of public service. My warm regards to every intern who has been part of this journey, and to the officers and mentors who support them.
