Operation
Sulaimani
BACKGROUND
Launched in 2015 by District administration under District Collector N. Prashanth IAS, Operation Sulaimani is a compassionate initiative in Kozhikode designed to ensure that no individual goes hungry by providing meals with dignity and respect to all, regardless of their circumstances.
Operation Sulaimani operates through a network of 25 ‘Sulaimani' distribution centers across 14 zones, where participants receive food coupons redeemable at over 100 local restaurants. This unique approach removes stigma by allowing individuals to access meals without waiting and compromising their dignity. Since its inception, the program has benefited more than 1.25 lakh people, feeding 150 to 200 individuals daily. The initiative has gained wider appreciation across the country, with many attempting to emulate this model. Operation Sulaimani thrives on strong collaboration with the Hotel and Restaurants Association and community support, sustained through a donation box funding model. DCIP interns support outreach and monitoring efforts, helping maintain effective program delivery and community engagement.
