Oppam Adalat
Background
The Oppam Adalat initiative, part of the Nammude Kozhikode Initiative led by District Collector S. Samba Siva Rao IAS, bridges the gap between the district administration and all citizens, while specifically addressing grievances of vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly and differently-abled, and improving life quality in SC and ST colonies.
Oppam Adalat is a citizen-centric initiative leveraging Panchayat Adalats for direct community engagement and grievance resolution. While open to all, its primary objective addresses concerns of marginalized groups, particularly the elderly and differently-abled, also organizing specialized legal guardianship adalats. This proactive initiative promotes inclusive governance, enhancing quality of life for SC and ST colonies by bringing the administration closer to citizens and ensuring equitable access to services. Developmental issues within Local Self-Government Institutions (LSGIs) were a major focus, complemented by planned visits to nearby Scheduled Caste/Tribe 'Unnathi' centers. DCIP interns played a critical role in actively organizing and facilitating these adalats, ensuring their smooth conduct and overall success.
