About Programme

The District Collector’s Internship Programme (DCIP) is a four-month initiative that brings young citizens into the heart of district administration to experience how governance transforms lives. Rooted in Compassion, Co-creation, and Collaboration, it has, since 2015, engaged over 450 interns across 60+ community projects, offering firsthand exposure to administration, grassroots realities, and policy implementation.

When I first joined Kozhikode as Assistant Collector, DCIP was already an exciting initiative, and over the years I have seen it grow into something far more meaningful. Now, as District Collector, working closely with interns and seeing their contributions to initiatives such as Saukhya, Sahamithra, Udyogjyothi, Puthulari and Compassionate Kozhikode has been truly encouraging. What stands out most is the sense of compassion that runs through DCIP, reflected in how young people engage with communities, understand lived realities and contribute thoughtfully to governance. The programme has matured not only in its reach and impact, but also in the sensitivity and creative energy it brings to district administration. It has been heartening to witness this journey, and I look forward to seeing DCIP continue to grow with fresh ideas and committed youth.
